For anyone who needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. This week I want to know…..
If you’re in the bookstore looking for a new book to read, which of these would play the biggest role in whether or not you purchase a book:
Cover ~ Description ~ Author
(must choose just one)
First let me say, I have definitely picked up a book just because the cover was really pretty or interesting. That usually leads me to read the description but, if you know me then you know that I don’t read book descriptions often because most of my books are recommendations.
So that leaves the author. I have go to authors that I will buy no matter what. Anything with Jodi Picoult’s name on it, I will buy. I have never not enjoyed reading one of her books and I know that so why not?
Other authors that I have gotten into the habit of buying are James Patterson and Harlan Coben. They also tend to be popular at a local book sale that I go to so I might as well get them while they’re there.

Ahhh how can I choose just one? Description, most likely but the cover will definitely be the initial pick-up factor! 🙈 And of course for favourite authors I don’t care about either haha.

Hahah I let’s tough to choose right?! I would’ve picked description too but I’ve stopped reading them altogether, I just start reading and hope for the best lol

Definitely a description junkie (that’s my vote). I do look at covers too though. And I have a few authors that I always buy from (Ellen Hopkins for example) but I’ve found too many good books by no name people to judge a book by its author.

Description is most popular so far. You’re absolutely right about not judging a book by it’s author, I’ll have to break out of my comfort zone a bit and try picking up authors I’m unfamiliar with
