For anyone who needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. On Friday we will see which scenario/character wins. Feel free to either comment your choice below or make your own post and link it back here!
By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. Also, if you have any suggestions or would like to write a guest post about any of the This or That? topics let me know!
This is late because I wasn’t sure if I was going to post today or not but I figured why not.
This week I want to know if you have ever read books by any of the following authors:
- Danielle Steele
- Harlan Coben
- James Patterson
- Nora Roberts
- John Grisham
- David Baldacci
The reason that I chose these authors is because I have been seeing their names my whole life. It’s like, if you walk into a store that doesn’t necessarily sell books but they have some and it’s always from these authors. I’m pretty sure most (if not all of them) have been writing since before I was born.
I’m also not sure if they are popular outside of the U.S. so that will be interesting to find out as well.
So the answer the question. Only (very) recently I’ve started reading James Patterson and Harlan Coben. One by each to be specific. That’s all so far but I would love to get my hand on a Danielle Steele book because I have never heard anything bad.
What about you? Are any of these names familiar? Do you know their work? Let me know!

I’ve done my usual post on your question here but in short I’ve heard of 5 out of the 6, but only actually read books by one of them – 3 of them are authors I’ve definitely considered picking up before and probably will at some point in the future.

My mother read Danielle Steele and I’ve read one book from John Grisham “A Time to Kill”, which was made into a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Matthew McCanaughaey (sp?)

Okay cool. I’ve been told they are also popular in the UK! Let me know if you get around to that David Baldacci novel.

Not only have I not read any of their books, I’m not sure I could name any of them either!

Really?! Most of them seem to writr romance or crime fiction, is that why? They appear to be known globally but I know no one who has read most of them…..except my grandma lol

I tend to read a lot of science fiction, more my speed! Though I picked up a book the other day that’s missing the first 6 pages!

I wouldn’t mind, except I got it ages ago, can’t remember where, and it’s P2 of 2! I want to write more, I need to get back into that habit.

I’ve seen all of these authors in every bookstore I go into, but the only one I’ve read is James Patterson. I’ve read the first 9 books of his Women’s Murder Club books. (He’s currently up to 16 now). Oh and I’ve read the first book of his Maximum Ride series (did you know the main character in that is a girl?! For the whole book I thought it was a boy and then my friend told me it was a girl.)
Funnily enough, I read all of these books in high school. There was a long period where I thought I was too mature for YA and started reading more adult books. I was really, really into Crime fiction for at least a year.
Looking forward to reading the results! 😀

I’m currently collecting the Women’s Murder Club series because I keep finding them on sale for $2! I’ve got a little over half but haven’t started reading them yet. I don’t much about his Maximum Ride series but I’ll have to check it out. I’m pretty new to crime fiction but I do look forward to reading more by Patterson 🙂

Seriously, auto correct? Brisbane? Why do you do these things to me?

Hahahaha don’t you love auto correct lol. What have you read by Nora Roberts? I’ve never picked up one of her books. So far a lot of people have said her older works are better than the new

You know, it’s been so long ago that I cannot recall. I’d need to dig them up from storage. I did enjoy them though.

Oddly enough, I’d never heard of David Baldacci (until right this moment!) or Harlan Coben (until B posted about how much she loved his work a while back).
Nora Roberts & Danielle Steel skew somewhat more towards romance (if I’m wrong, as always, please correct me!), so I’m not really interested in reading their works. Harlan Coben sounds interesting, as does James Patterson, so I’m sure I’ll check them out at some point in my life.
The only author I read from that list is John Grisham. I read The Firm & The Pelican Brief, but I read them back around the end of 1994/the beginning of 1995. I remember nothing. LOL (According to my list, though, I really liked both books. 😀 )
