I said I wasn’t going to do it. I really didn’t want to watch this video but I did it anyway.
First let’s start with the fact that she calls him a “whiny, indulgent, attention seeking crybaby” Is she talking about Colin or about herself here?
Funny how she tells him to just leave the country if he doesn’t like it so much since most conservatives criticize Syrian refugees for doing the exact same thing…
What has he done to make this country better? Oh I don’t know…maybe used his privilege and his platform to speak out on behalf of people whose concerns and fears are continually ignored. I think that’s a pretty big deal Tomi, but of course since what he’s speaking about “doesn’t apply to you,” you don’t give a damn.
Actually, his message to people of color is to speak up for what you believe in, fight against systematic oppression, and use your voice. All great things to teach young children.
Yes, Tomi. Colin is half white and he was raised by a white family. But never once did he (or anyone else with common sense) say that ALL white people were racist or that ALL white people were to blame. However, white people are to blame for bringing our ancestors to this country. Murdering, beating, and raping them. Tearing apart their families. Forcing them into segregation. Forcing them to live in shitty neighborhoods though housing segregation, and a bunch of other horrible things. And again, no it’s not ALL white people but they are still the main ones responsible. Just saying.
Who’s getting away with murder? Hmm… here’s your evidence:
- The death of Eric Garner was ruled a homicide and no one was indicted
- George Zimmerman – the man who killed Trayvon Martin – who then bragged about killing the kid and then tried to sell the gun in an online auction
- The officer who shot and killed 12 year old Tamir Rice in broad daylight
- The officer who killed Michael Brown
- The officer who pressed his knee into Freddie Grey’s spine and severed it
Do I need to keep going? I mean, all of things happen fairly recently and continue to happen so I think that’s why he started to speak. As a black person (half or not, he’s still black) it’s kind of hard to watch people who look like you get murdered on videotape and then have no justice served.
Having a black president doesn’t mean that racism doesn’t exist. I can pull up plenty of videos with people calling him the n word or monkey or some other disgusting slur. Having one black person in a position of power doesn’t make racist people come to their senses. Apparently it only encourages them to further expose themselves as bigots.
Apparently, I need to say this again because actually listening to the words that come of Kaepernick’s mouth is too difficult for some. His protest has nothing to do with veterans. It was never intended to offend them. But )of course) anytime a famous black person makes a statement about racism people want to turn against them and look for anything that they can to complain about it. But Colin Kaepernick is the whiny one right?
