Hi! Sorry this is a day late but This or That is back! Up this week is ………
Hardcover vs paperback
For most of you, this is probably an extremely simple question right? Not for me!
For the most part I don’t really mind either BUT if I had it my way, all paperbacks would be small. You know, like 3.5 by 5.5 inches (I say inches because America doesn’t use the metric system for some reason that I don’t understand). So if that were in centimeters I believe it would be somewhere around 8.89 by 13.97cm (at least that’s what Google says)
Although I do like hardcovers too, I don’t like for them to be too big either. Not in pages but it length. The Harry Potter series is a good comparison so I wouldn’t want a book bigger than a hardcover Harry Potter…weird I know… but it makes sense in my head 🙂
Also, (in honor of the fact that I started school yesterday) let me just say that I HATE paperback textbooks!!! They’re way too big and super flimsy. I have little hands, I like little books! I have one textbook for my sociology class that is paperback but its smaller than usual textbooks so I think I can manage.
So if I HAD to choose I would say paperback but only if they are small!
Which do you prefer? Paperback or hardcover?
Good question. I like how lightweight and easy to handle paperback novels are, so I guess I’d go with paperbacks over hardcovers.

Good point! I rather have a paperback when I’m also carrying a laptop and textbooks

Definitely paperback! They are easier to read and easier to carry. And for some reason my hardcovers get damaged a lot more then my paperbacks.

That is true! I also always take the cover off of hardcovers because they get in the way

Hardcovers are nice and they are hard to bend and break. But paperbacks are easier to carry. My mom used to work for ultrasound and she had text books to study. My mom used to ask me to get them. Since they are paperbacks they were very flimsy . As long as the books are small I will pick paperback.

I like both. I like paperbacks for traveling purposes since they are lighter and often don’t take as much space. I also like them since they are much more cheaper. However I love hardbacks for being more sturdy and they just look so good on my bookshelf! haha Unfortunately they are bit more pricy so my frugal self would always buy the cheaper version unless it’s a new release and I want it ASAP.

Hardbacks are really pretty but if I’m tired and reading in bed, it hurts more if I accidentally drop it on my face…

HA! That is so true! I’ve done that so many times and then I’m mad at the book and don’t want to read it anymore lol

hardcovers are beautiful and I wish I has a collection of them. That said, I always buy paperbacks, they’re easy to transport and easier to read 🙂

(I wanted to make a whole post about it but I don’t have time 😅)
I would pick hardcovers. I think they’re more beautiful and nicer to read. But mostly I have to buy paperbacks because our bookshops mostly only have paperbacks and hardcovers are more expensive. As a fourteen year old I don’t get to choose how much money I can spend on books 😝

They are definitely nicer but as a college student I understand the need to buy paperbacks instead
