So, when GoT first came out I was not interested. I had attempted to read A Knight of Seven Kingdoms by George R. R. Martin and it put me in a month long reading slump. Then a friend of mine showed me the first episode and I hated it.
I was also never really interested in knights and dragons or whatever so I didn’t think that I would like it.
Anyway, everyone started telling me how great it was and that they thought I would like it. I didn’t doubt that the show is good but everyone trying to pressure me into watching it made me not want to watch it. Being totally honest, the GoT fandom is by far the most annoying that I have ever encountered. Worse than the Trekkies, Potterheads and Twihards combined. SO FUCKING ANNOYING.
When I found out that the show was coming to an end, I decided to watch it once it was complete and over the summer when I had the time. I honestly just needed everyone to stop talking about it and give it a little time to die down.
So here we are.
I will be reviewing by the season so that I can talk about the little stuff, and I’ve just finished season 1.
Also, I already know how it ends. I accidentally watched a spoiler of something that happens on the very last episode (thanks Twitter) so…….yeah.
The first time that I watched episode one the thing that stood and that made me not want to watch the show was Daenerys Targaryen. I know that it’s accurate for the time but I don’t care. I had an issue with seeing her get sold by her brother and then being raped by Drogo. Yes it was rape. She was covering herself and crying, what the fuck else would you call it?
I would love Daenerys but I strongly dislike Emilia Clarke. I also know that she does something pretty fucked up in the final season. Otherwise, she is the badass Mother of Dragons and I love that. I think right now her character is learning how to be strong so I’m interested in where it goes.
I knew Khal Drogo was going to die, but I didn’t think that it would be so soon. I also knew that she would lose her baby sadly. I just knew that there was no mention of her having children so I was actually surprised to learn that she was pregnant.
Her brother was such a little bitch, I’m glad he died early.
I don’t like any of the Lannisters.
Well I kind of like Tyrion a little. The whole Jaime and Cersei thing is weird af. Their son is a little power hungry piece of shit. Since he was the one to make the call on killing the king’s illegitimate children does he know who his father is? Cause at one point he mentioned it to Cersei and she (of course) denied it. But then he could have just killed them all because he doesn’t want competition…..Well he also called him “uncle” Jaime so maybe not.
I don’t really have feelings towards a few of the characters. I don’t like or dislike Lady Stark. I am indifferent toward her sons. Her oldest daughter though, I don’t know. Sometimes I like, her sometimes I feel like she would sell out her family in a heartbeat. I was surprised that Lord Stark died so soon, and murdered by that little bitch of a “king.”
I do like Jon Snow, I know he’ll be important later one. And I don’t like how Lady Stark treats him. It’s not his fault that her husband cheated.
I LOVE ARYA! Okay so from the first scene with her I was just like okay she’s a little boss bitch and I like it. I love how she told her dad “That’s not me” when he said she would marry a prince or whatever. How someone told her she shouldn’t insult people taller than her and she said, “then I wouldn’t get to insult anyone.” Haha, I felt that. I am really excited to see how see grows. My mom even thinks we’re alike lol.
So I’m guessing a lot more people will die? My cousin told me not to get attached to anybody else so that can’t be good.
I don’t particularly have an issue with nudity but I think this is the only show that I have watched with soooo much of it. There’s also a lot of blood. In one scene a guy beheaded a horse and I was not prepared.
I definitely see why people are into it and honestly I appreciate the drama haha
