Book Review: 5th Horseman (Women’s Murder Club #5)

5th Horseman by James Patterson

It is a wild race against time as Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer and the newest member of the Women’s Murder Club, attorney Yuki Castellano, lead an investigation into a string of mysterious patient deaths–and reveal a hospital administration determined to shield its reputation at all costs. And while the hospital wages an explosive court battle that grips the entire nation, the Women’s Murder Club hunts for a merciless killer among its esteemed medical staff.

I don’t really have much to say for this one but that’s mostly because I didn’t take a lot of notes this time.

I like that there were two separate cases this time. It was a lot going on, but not in a bad way. More of a “something is always happening” or “never a dull moment” kind of way.

I hate that Yuki’s mom was killed it was really heartbreaking. On the other hand, I like the confidence that it gave Yuki and I like that she’s going to be an ADA now. With that being said though, I miss Jill and I wish that she was mentioned every here and there. Maybe that will happen further into the series.

I was shocked that Garza wasn’t THE killer. He’s a killer but he wasn’t even the mass murderer. It makes me wonder how they figured out that it was nurse and how they ended up tracking her to Atlanta. It also bothers me that there was never an explanation for it but then again I guess there isn’t always a reason.

One thing that I’ve felt building in the past few books is tension between Cindy and Lindsey. I’ve mentioned before that Lindsay is kind of a bitch sometimes but then again Cindy is also just really annoying in certain situations. The thing is though, they are literally just doing their jobs so I wonder if that will continue to be an issue.

Anyway, this was a good read.

4 stars.
