Bookish Quotes #17

Welcome to Bookish Quotes where I share quotes from books, about books or by my favorite authors.

“A shared history does not entitle you to a future.”

~ Omar al Sadiq, The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

The inspiration for this quote comes from a very good post that someone else wrote about the Hunger Games. This doesn’t have much to do with the other post but it did get me thinking.

Part of the reason that I never rooted for Gale was because he felt entitled to Katniss. I mean, I get it. They have been best friends since forever and there’s no shame in him falling for her. However, there absolutely is shame in guilt tripping her into a kiss just because your feelings are hurt. But that’s just my opinion.

What are some of your favorite bookish quotes? Let me know!

  1. Applicable to life in general too… Many do feel that because of a shared past a shared future is a must. Sometimes though, we need to leave some people in our past.
