This or That? #77

For anyone who needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. On Friday we will see which scenario/character wins. Feel free to either comment your choice below or make your own post and link it back here! :)

By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. Also, if you have any suggestions or would like to write a guest post about any of the This or That? topics let me know!

When reading a series are you more likely to read each book upon release or wait until the entire series is complete?

*”It depends” is not an option*

If you’ve seen some of my recent posts then you know that I will wait until it’s all finished. I hate waiting for new books to be released. Obviously it takes years, so by the time the next one comes out, I don’t think I’ll remember what I read in the last one.

There are only two series where I read each book as they came out and those were A Series of Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter. Obviously, it was well worth it but I can’t do it anymore. I don’t have the patience.

What about you? Let me know!

~Rae

I read each on on release because I have Zero. Patience. when it comes to these things. I also routinely spoiler myself when I’m watching TV shows and movies, so clearly I’m just a terrible person.

I am impatient. With the Honor Harrington and Lost Fleet sagas I’d be snapping them up as they were released. I just have to know the next bit of the story, right there and then.

For the sake of this question I read them all on release.

I find it really interesting that you say you wait for them all to be released because you don’t have the patience, that’s the exact reason I tend to read the next one as soon as it’s released.

I’ve written a bit more on it on my blog, and argued slightly that it does depend (I know it’s not an allowed answer!)

  4. I totally understand the struggle!! That’s what I usually do; I wait until the final book is released and make sure that the series is worth it then I commit myself to reading it.

I never even thought to wait until they were all released. Ever since I read the first in the Game of Thrones series, I’ve regretted not waiting (although I’d re-read them in a heartbeat).

While I haven’t ever waited in the past, I’m more likely to try to avoid the hype & the desire to read something popular in the future. (TL;DR = I’m more likely to read a series as it’s released. 😉 )
