For anyone who needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. On Friday we will see which scenario/character wins. Feel free to either comment your choice below or make your own post and link it back here!
By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. Also, if you have any suggestions or would like to write a guest post about any of the This or That? topics let me know!
Here’s the scenario for this week…..
You’ve just finished book 3 in a series of 6. Book 1 was good, 2 was great, but the one you just finished was…. “meh.” What do you do?
Finish the series ~ Call it quits ~ Put it back on your TBR to finish later
I would finish. I don’t DNF often so this book would really have to suck for me to call it quits with 3 books left.
I also have this thing about finishing what I’ve started and I think that halfway is too far into a series to give it up. I would also be optimistic that with that many books it would get better. I’m hoping that this holds true with The Mortal Instruments and that this last book is good.Otherwise, she should have stopped at 3 like she planned.
What about you? Do you think that you would finish a series this far in? Let me know!
~Rae
FINISH IIIIIIT!
No but really, a book/book series has to be BRUTAL for me to not finish it. I just need to know what happens, even if it’s a slog and I have to crawl over the finish line bloody and bruised*. Otherwise the curiosity would kill me.
*This has led to me flinging a few books at the wall once I’ve finished reading the last page.

I agree! I have to know. Throwing the book at the wall is what I wanted to do when I finished the Uglies series but they were borrowed so I didn’t think that would be a good idea lol

Definitely finish it! If the first two books were good, but the third missed the mark, that’d be ok with me. It happens sometimes! But that doesn’t mean the rest of the series won’t be as good as book one and two! 😉

In this scenario I think I’d finish it. I’ve written a short post elaborating a bit more on something of the things I’d consider

I would give the fourth book a try if the previous books were good enough. Even though I say I won’t read the rest of the TMI books sometimes I think about it and I’d like to give City of Fallen Angels a chance. The only book series I definitely quit were the Immortals (on the first book) and Shiver series (although I did get to the final book, I just didn’t finish that book lol).

Maybe read Fallen Angels and then decide if you want to finish? I’ve never heard of the Shiver series but I’m guessing it’s not worth the read if you didn’t finish the last one lol!

I would finish it. My curiosity would get the better of me, and I also have this strange thing where if I start something, I cannot stop until it is completely finished. Sometimes it gets annoying, ha ha!

Same! Sometimes I hate it and end up reading books that really suck but I had to do it

I’m with you, Rae; I’d finish the series. But, I might bump it down the TBR list a little.

It would depend on if I like book 4 or not. If the series starts to get dull, during book 4, I might decide to DNF it. But I might push through and see if the books end up getting better again. 🙂
