Rae’s Rules to Remember #66: Stop apologizing to your readers

If you read my post on Blogging Pet Peeves then you know how much I hate this. The more I see it, the more annoyed I get.

Seriously, think about it. First of all, no one pressures you to post a certain amount. No one except you that is. What’s the point in putting pressure on yourself to do something that’s supposed to be fun? For 99.5% of people, this is a hobby. Hobbies aren’t supposed to add more stress. If anything, they should help relieve it.

Why apologize for being caught up in school, work, your family, or being sick. You’re human, it happens.

More importantly, why apologize for having a life outside of blogging? I mean, it is your life experiences that inspired you to start a blog in the first place right?

So stop apologizing for not posting 5 posts a day or for taking a hiatus. It’s okay. We understand and we want you to live your life. That means stepping away from the computer every now and then.

I completely agree with you, although I have been guilty of this. I am one of those people who likes to please everyone, it genuinely makes me happy to make other people happy, so I genuinely feel sorry when people tell me they’ve missed me, or ask where I’ve been. I do, however; realize that it is impossible to please everyone, and this is something I need to work on. Old habits die hard ,I guess! 🙂
