Dear Trump Supporters

You did this.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully forced this country to take a giant step backward.

You’ve handed one of the most powerful countries in the world over to a man with 0 political experience.

You’ve just elected a president that ran their entire campaign on hatred and insulted millions of people along the way.

Many of the the people that I trusted the most and looked up to in college identified as gay, bisexual, or gender non conforming. Your vote for Trump told the LGBTQIAP+ community that you don’t believe that they should have basic human rights, like marrying the person they love or having protection from discrimination. Is that how you make America “great” again?

One of my best friends from high school is Muslim. Your vote for Trump told Muslims that instead of seeing what the majority of people who follow Islam believe, you will continue to falsely judge, attack and blame them because of the actions of an incredibly small percentage of people. Is that how you make America “great” again?

My best friend from college is Costa Rican. Your vote for Trump told the Latinx and Hispanic communities that you support the false stereotypes that surround them and that you’re okay with having a president who views them all as “murderers and rapists.” Is that how you make America “great” again?

That same friend from college as well as another friend (who was also a mentor) were not born in the U.S. Your vote for Trump told immigrants that you don’t want them to have a chance at the American Dream, despite the fact that some of your own grandparents and great-grandparents were also immigrants. And that you’re okay with Trump assuming that all of them are drug dealers. Is that how you make America “great” again?

I am African American. Your vote for Trump told African Americans that you want to take away all of the progress that our ancestors fought for. That having a president who supports “stop and frisk” despite the fact that it was deemed unconstitutional because we were being unfairly targeted is okay. And that you’re supporting a president who claims he wants to help our community, yet doesn’t seem to understand that not all of us are poor and uneducated living in inner cities. Is that how you make America “great” again?

I am a woman. Your vote for Trump told women that you don’t give a damn about our rights. That you don’t want women to be in control of our own bodies. That you think bragging about sexual assault is just “locker room talk” and that you’re okay with the president of the United States perpetuating rape culture. Is that how you make America “great” again?

And while we’re at it…..when exactly was America great? No matter what time period you go back to, this country has never been perfect. So if you think that genocide, slavery, segregation, the Great Depression, or lack of womens’ rights were “great” time periods then that says a lot about you and none of it is good.

On the other hand… thank you. For exposing yourselves – and many other in this supposedly “great” country – for the bigots that you are.

Oh and thanks to all of you, the global market plummeted last night before Trump even reached his 270. You didn’t just screw up our country, you screwed a lot of people over.

I woke up today with a message from a former resident of mine telling me that he was scared for the both of us. For me as a woman of color and for himself as a member of the LGBTQIAP+ community. This is what’s happening in America right now. People are afraid because instead of choosing to shatter a glass ceiling you wanted to support racism and homophobia.

Carla even offered me a stay in her guest room. She lives in Australia.

I hope you all are proud of yourselves, because this…..is on you.

I am beyond enraged at this point because Trump supporters still refuse to see Trump for what he truly is and what he represents to everyone in the world. We have allowed hate to represent this country. Truly, congratulations, we are now the dumbest and most bigoted country.

I disagree here. Donald Trump had a huge percentage of the black, hispanic and latino votes. He also won votes in the majority of black states. Hilary Clinton is a hard-core racists and criminal. Yes Donald Trump has no political experience but he is a businessman and by being a businessman he will fix the economy and put money where it is needed. He will also stop ILLEGAL immigrants coming into the country which is desperately needed. If I had to choose between a businessman or a criminal running my country well, it is a simple choice. Most of the news networks like CNN are completely corrupt and paid off by Clinton to spout lies and mistruths about Trump, when in fact she steals money from the Clinton Foundation and supports her rapist husband. But in the end each to their own but Donald Trump will make America great again and I will back him every step of the way.

    • I’m not saying no African Americans or Latinos voted for him, I know they did but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s racist and has said incredibly offensive things. More racist than Hillary by far.As a woman of color, I refuse to support someone who sees me as a statistic. And Hillary was cleared by the FBI – twice. Yet our new president has rape charges against him. Don’t talk about Bill Clinton’s cases if you won’t talk about Trump’s.
He’s also a FAILED businessman. Filed for bankruptcy multiple times. How is he going to money where its needed when the global economy tanked last night because of him? And while he’s saying American are losing jobs, his merchandise is being made overseas…
If that’s a simple choice for you…to choose the person who has no experience and is a bigot then good for you but I won’t stand by that.
So when was America great to begin with then and how do you justify supporting a president endorsed by the KKK?

Hilary Clinton endorses the KKK and has had private meetings with its leader and she also is funded by the same country that funds ISIS. Trump has had allegations made against him but all have been thrown out of court and he is personally suing the women that made them for deformation of character. And if he is a failed businessman how has he managed to fund a political campaign from his own pocket. Hilary Clinton has been cleared of her email crimes but the Clinton Foundation is still under investigation by the FBI and the NYPD are also bringing pedophilia charges against her and many other politicians after Weiner gave her up as a pedophile and rapist after his own arrest for the same charges – Hilary and Bill Clinton are the ones organizing and participating in the peado parties. And all Trump’s comments you see in the newspapers and on TV have been taken entirely out of context from the conversations they were said in just to make him look bad. He isn’t racist as he has great relationship with the colored communities who I feel would not support a racist.

      • “Colored”……really? The fact that you’ve said that and think that being supported by some PEOPLE OF COLOR just makes it all okay says a lot.
You are completely entitled to your own opinion and I would say that I respect that but now you’ve offended me and clearly don’t see why this is an issue.
I won’t be participating in this conversation anymore.

I don’t decide what is racism. Actually the definition of racism is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior and this is the completely opposite of what Jesse Jackson (an important and extremely proud man of the time) is describing Donald Trump as.

        Like

      • Cause I really needed the definition of something that I have experienced countless times……..
I don’t care what Jesse Jackson says. The fact that you think that makes a difference just proves my point

      • novellover97 says:

It does prove a point because how can someone be racist when someone who is a very important and key figure in equal race rights endorse him completely and have full faith in him. It is absurd to think otherwise on this matter. While many people of all creeds and races still suffer horrendous racism it is due to individual prejudices rather than a collective prejudice and for someone as influential as Jesse Jackson to endorse Donald Trump prove beyond doubt that he is not racist. If you want to believe otherwise that is fine as it is your opinion but it is undoubtedly deluded.

      • One person’s opinion doesn’t make what Trump said less racist. But let me guess, you probably think racism doesn’t exist since we’ve had a black president right?
A lot of black activist (more probably if we’re being honest) also were against Trump but just ignore what’s right in front of you and then call me deluded. So glad that you have the privilege of ignoring blatant signs of racism. Good for you

      • novellover97 says:

no i do believe racism exist but on the opposite end of the spectrum you are looking at. I personally believe Trump can’t be racist because of the amount of the black vote he had and I don’t believe Barack Obama did anything good for America I think Obama was voted in because he was the first in what should be a long time of diverse candidates for the presidency. I see racism everyday and help me friends who are latino and black fight it and I help pick them up when the world has beat them down and if you look at the voting breakdown by denomination Trump has had a higher proportion of the black vote than Obama himself. And it has been proven that the only black activists that voted against Trump where the groups that opted to violence in their cause for “justice” and in my opinion the violent black activist group are no better than the KKK thinking violence, death and corruption are the only means to be heard and stood up for. And if you believe in that I accept that but it is an unethical stand point and completely deluded. I will say no more on this topic as I could spout facts at you until I am blue in the face but if you are willing to listen and accept reasonable and logical argument then I want nothing more to do with this. Thank you for the valuable insight I have gained into the extent of the brainwashed in the Millennial generation but Good day as I have nothing further to add to your backwards and deluded though process which contains no facts and biased opinions.

yes that maybe a fact but Trump has the right not to publish his taxes the same as you and I but as facts go I have all I need as mainstream media is 100% biased so if you want to believe that go ahead but I do very extensive research for the TRUTH in every headline. Ah, this is so frustrating! I don’t even live in America, so honestly it shouldn’t be my problem, but the amount of people I know who live in America who are fearing for their lives is insane. I even have a few people where I live who are scared because they are part of the LGBTQ+ community and are so shocked that someone so seemingly homophobic could win. It’s baffling, and if I wasn’t thankful that I live where I do before, I certainly am now.

i agree wholeheartedly with your post except for the part where you asked when exactly was america great. because the truth is, america has done a lot of growing up. america has been pretty great. in fact, america has been so great that women have the right to vote. that muslims have their respective places of worship in this country. that the gay community are able to partake in the rights of marriage (at least, for some states). that immigrants like your best friends in high school, or your best friend in college, or like me (a filipino who moved to this country eight years ago) have built somewhat comfortable lives and are working towards a better future. and just the fact that we can still (or, at least, up to this point) raise our voices to express our disappointment in this matter — yes, america has been great. there will always be room for improvement, but that will always be the case. nothing will ever be just perfect. and that’s what these trump supporters fail to realize.

america has always been great. it just needed a little more kindness.

on that note, let’s not jump ship just yet. because we owe it to all those who came before us who have sacrificed a lot for our rights. it’s our turn now to continue to fight for those rights.

    • I’m not saying that there hasn’t been progress. I know that there has and I’ve acknowledged that. Women having the right to vote still doesn’t mean that they are always treated fairly. Muslims having places to worship doesn’t stop those places from being burned down or stop women from being run off the road because they wear hijabs. Gay marriage still didn’t stop people from refusing to issue couples their marriage licenses. Sure America has taken steps forward but this is a huge step back. I never said anything about jumping the ship. I have always recognized the sacrifices that were made and am still fighting for whats left to gain even with this post. So again I’m not saying that there isn’t progress but I still won’t ignore the injustice that still exists despite that “greatness” and for that reason I do not agree that America was greater in the past than it could be in the future.

i agree. just to clarify, i wasn’t implying that you specifically would jump ship. i was just speaking in general, since it’s pretty much the common sentiment of people these days. and like i said, america is growing up. it’s been pretty good so far after all the sacrifices of all those who came before us, but it’s not enough. so, it’s our turn now to keep it going.

I had a miserable night but feel Hilary did all she could. I feel embarrassed and sorry for the US but I only see it as a temporary set back. Your country has to go through this, play it out to realize Trumps way is the wrong way. He will screw up in his first month trust me. When people realize he is the same con artist that tricked his way to the top and he can’t deliver anything good his administration will collapse and the US will emerge stronger and wiser.

      • Update. I’ve been watching Young Turks. Thought you might like to know Trump has done a U-Turn on almost everything.
‘Drain the swamp’..NO he’s made it worse. All his appointees are lobbyists who are in pocket of corporates.
He has back tracked on the wall.
He can’t cancel Obamacare technically possible but very unlikely..probably wind up with a name change. Trumpcare good for hos ego..I guess
Every nation is against him on climate change. Even China and Russia are on board so that will look bad..That will win no favor.
He cant get out of Iran deal easily ..very hard to do so will probably forget it.

Oh they took down the ban on Muslims from there site then put it back up when the New York Times spotted it.
All he’s got left is trade..lets see what happens

      • Thanks for the update. Interesting but I’m not surprised. When he gave his acceptance speech he was calling for unity and praising Hillary but through his entire campaign he’s been attacking her and creating more of a divide between citizens. It’s strange. I really don’t know what his end game is. What do you think?

        Liked by 1 person

      • The game is done. This is it all he wanted to do was win. Next he will fix his brand do favours for all this surrogates..Sarah Palin, Carson, Giuliani, Newt are all getting top posts. Then he will bring down all that opposed him. Policy wise he will not deliver anything he promised. He will keep a low profile avoid the press and line the way for his business after he leaves.

Then, the next day, they showed Trump and Melania in the White House, while he was meeting with Obama, and I honestly felt disgusted knowing that they would be living there for the next 4 years.

I’m pretty sure you don’t know what the term “bigot” means, so let me enlighten you. “Bigot: A person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.” You could literally substitute the word bigot for liberal, and the definition would be the same. There was a lot of bigotry going on during this election, but it was coming from those supporting Hillary Clinton.
