Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

Description:

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

~SPOILER ALERT~

I am so freaking invested in this series now.

I liked that Henry was much more attentive to Charlotte this time. And it was a good lead up to the scene where they finally admit how in love they are. That was really cute and now they’re going to have a baby. Probably not good with Mortmain on the loose, but we’ll see.

Sophie is still amazing. I really do hope that maybe she can Ascend and be with Gideon. I don’t want her to get hurt. She’s too awesome. And kudos to Gideon for leaving his father, he did the right thing.

Jessamine is the biggest idiot on the planet. I was so looking forward to her redemption and she failed. I hope she stays locked up honestly. She’s really no better than Nate and to be honest I think he got what he deserved after betraying his sister…. well cousin and killing his mother.

I do still love Jem. He had every right to be pissed at Will for going out and getting high while his best friend’s life is controlled by a drug. I just don’t know how I feel about him and Tessa. I know that he loves her, but I feel like she doesn’t really love him so I don’t want them together. I also hate love triangles and typically I go for the first love interest because they make sense together before the second one is introduced. I love that his love for her makes him stronger but she can’t make up her mind and it isn’t fair to him.

I knew that Will was being an asshole for a reason and now that I know that the curse wasn’t real I feel bad for him. He handled having his heart broken very well. (Not really broken, more like ripped out, stomped on, and shredded). For some reason I think that they’re still going to end up together but again I don’t know what that will mean for Jem.

Also, I LOVE that Cecily came to the Institute!!!

As for Tessa….I like her a lot more now BUT I also still kind of hate her. Sometimes she’s just incredibly stupid for no reason. There was a scene where she stands up to Will and calls him out and I loved that. I want more of that Tessa. She also needs to figure out what the hell she wants. You can’t make out with one guy one night, make out with his best friend the next day, and then go back to the other guy the day after. And now that she’s accepted Jem’s proposal, she needs to care about him and stop thinking about the Will. She was also incredibly rude to Sophie about Gideon. It wasn’t her place and she was a complete bitch about it. I also still need to know what Tessa is. Is she really demon  and Shadowhunter? Will she and Jem actually get married? Why was Starkweather so concerned for her welfare? What about when she said she say Mrs.Dark from her window? When will their be an explanation for her angel pendant? Is she the clockwork princess? What does that mean?

Reading the last 100 pages of this book were just stressful as reading Deathly Hallows for the first time. And I still have soo many questions that STILL haven’t been answered? Why was Mortmain adopted by Shadowhunters? Why is he still making automatons? How is he connected to Tessa?

I need answers!

Anyway, This book get 4.5 out of 5

I’ll be starting Clockwork Princess now!
