Brock Turner

Ladies, gentlemen and gender non-conforming individuals,

Our justice system has failed us.

Brock Turner aka The Stanford Rapist (no not the Stanford swimmer, call him what he is; a rapist) was released from prison yesterday.

He did 3 months. Ironically he got out early for “good behavior.”

Half of what the judge actually gave him. But let’s be honest, 6 months wasn’t enough. Not when the recommended minimum sentence was a few years.

But the judge believed that prison “would have a large impact” on poor little Brock the Rapist. Interesting that he cared so much about Brock – who is a rapist- but clearly didn’t give a damn about the woman who’s life Brock (the Stanford Rapist) ruined forever.

A young woman in her early twenties who was forced to relive some of the worst moments of her life in front of a full court room with cameras. A young woman who wrote a heartbreaking letter – one that will bring any person with a heart to tears – to the man who ruined her life. A young woman who just wanted to have a good time with her little sister and instead was taken advantage of. And what did the judge do for her? Nothing. Not a damn thing, except proved that the justice system of the United States of America is severely and disgustingly flawed.

Caught in the act of raping an unconscious woman behind a dumpster and only served 3 months in jail.

This is the world we live in.

This whole case has made me furious. Apparently they didn’t want to ruin his life, because he’s such a good swimmer. The court system is so messed up, and I can’t believe no one in power realises this!

Good behaviour! I don’t think any amount of good behaviour is going to offer redemption in this case. This shows up the whole court system in a bad light.

I saw this earlier today. It’s disgusting. If I were the judge, I don’t know how I’d live with myself knowing that I’d given such a short sentence. There should be a minimum amount of years you HAVE to give and that then be what he gets out at on if he gets released on “good behaviour”. (Btw, I know there is supposed to be a set amount of years. Also, I’m not American so it could be a little different to where I’m from.)

  4. Seems like the Judge didn’t see women as people. Grrrrrr! Disgusting.

Not only is this proof of what’s wrong with the justice system, but when Corey Batey (football player at Vanderbilt) raped a woman & was found guilty of 3 felonies (like Brock The Rapist Turner), he was sentenced to 15-25 years in prison.

The only differences between the two, from what I’ve read? Corey Batey said he couldn’t remember the assault, while Brock The Rapist Turner said he was “alert” (despite a BAC 2x the legal limit). Oh, yeah… & Corey Batey is f***ing black.

People tell me there’s no race issue. People tell me there’s no rape culture. Easy enough for them to say. *so.freaking.mad.*
