Harry Potter Month: Day 25

Day 25: Are you happy with how it turned out or do you wish something was different?

I’m satisfied. When the series ended and I got to the end of Deathly Hallows I was satisfied with everything. Looking back now and rereading there are a few things that I do wish I could change. I wish that Sirius hadn’t died, I wish we that we had learned the truth about Snape sooner, that Fred doesn’t die, that Tonks and Lupin’s baby wasn’t an orphan, that Hermione ended up with someone better than Ron (Even J.K. admits that wasn’t the right choice) and even though I wish these things hadn’t happened, I cant deny that J.K. Rowling is a genius so I respect all of the decisions that she’s made and know that she’s had reasons for making them. It’s been so long that I’ve already accepted all of these things anyway, so yeah I’m pretty happy with it.

Now, at the time that series ended, I was not expecting another book.. So that’s kind of a game changer and a very exciting surprise!

I wanted Harry and Snape to reach some kind of understanding. They didn’t have to be friends, but perhaps a defrosting of tension?

Also, it would have been nice to see some members of Slytherin be, well, good.

I wish Ron and Hermione hadn’t gotten together. There will always be people I wish didn’t die – many of which you mentioned – but I hate Ron so much. He’s a self-entitled spoiled brat (which I find ironic, because his family is poor). And he’s a dick. To basically everyone. I hate how someone as strong and awesome as Hermione married him.
