Harry Potter Month: Day 20

Day 20: If you could meet one member of the vast who would it be?

Emma Watson of course. Not because she’s Hermione but because she’s a feminist too. Sadly, many people still don’t know what feminism is but claim that they “don’t need it” so I would talk to her about everything that she’s done around that topic since HP ended.

I would pick Emma Watson, too. But … I guess, to have an answer that is for once different to yours, Alan Rickman … if he was still alive. I’ve loved him since I first saw Die Hard. He’s the only celebrity I’ve ever actually cried over when he died. I mean, not majorly, it was just a couple of tears, but I’ve never understood when people get upset over celebrity deaths before. But it was different with him. AND he was a feminist, too. Apparently, according to Emma, he was part of the reason she became so active 🙂

    • That’s a good one. And yeah he has a quote about being a feminist and Emma Watson posted it in remembrance of him and OF COURSE got attacked for “using his death to further her movement” people are such fucking idiots

I KNOW!! And so many people were pissed because they were like, “But he’s Hans Gruber!” and I’m like … “Yes, but that’s just a character he played in an incredibly awesome movie in the 90’s. Let it the fuck go.” Plus, he played an incredibly amazing man in ‘Sense and Sensibility’, alongside Emma Watson and Kate Winslet. It’s not like he’s only ever been Hans Gruber (although he was kick ass at that). People suck. And are incredibly stupid! It’s the same with them attacking Joss Wheedon and Wil Wheaton – they get all pissy that the men they like are feminists. And really, is that a surprise? Did anyone miss fucking Buffy? That was clearly feminist shit. Firefly? The chicks were more badass than Mal, and that’s saying something. Especially Zoe. Avengers? Like, seriously. As if women in Joss Wheedon’s world have ever ‘needed’ a man. In fact, Buffy’s whole course was about NOT needing a man. And she was damn good about it, too.
Sometimes, I think nerds just suck. It’s like they all want Laura Croft with the DDD boobs and the kick ass fighting, but then the sex. She’s only allowed to fight, not have opinions.
