This or That? #46

Happy Monday and Happy 4th if you are celebrating today!

In case anyone needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. On Friday we will see which scenario/character wins. Feel free to either comment your choice below or make your own post and link it back here! :)

By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. Also, if you have any suggestions or would like to write a guest post about any of the This or That? topics please let me know!

How do you feel about breaking the spines of a book?

I personally don’t do it. I don’t think that I could. I’ve noticed that when I borrow books, some people do and it will bother me at first but once I get into the story I can ignore it. I think that I would write in every single book that I own before I break a spine.

What about you? For or against spine breaking? Let me know!

I never really set out to break spines, but a lot of my favourite books end up with their spine broken from me reading them so frequently (with the exception of hard backs, I find that they are much easier to keep intact). Some novels I’ve read so much that pages have started falling out. Plus, I have a major fondness for second-hand novels, so sometimes they’re quite old, even if in good condition when bought. So … I guess I’m against breaking the spines, but I find it happens a lot to me, despite best intentions. Does that count?

  2. I don’t think I break the spines…I’m a little unsure of what this question means but I think I get it!

Eh, I’m on the fence with this one. While I don’t want to break the pretty spine, sometimes it is inevitable. Or it comes from a well read book, which shows lots of love. I don’t go out of my way to break a spine, but it doesn’t bother me if the spine is broken.
