Hello, happy Monday!
In case anyone needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. On Friday we will see which scenario/character wins. Feel free to either comment your choice below or make your own post and link it back here! 
By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. Also, if you have any suggestions please let me know!
Do you read biographies/autobiographies and/or memoirs?
From my understanding (feel free to correct me or jump in and add more info) the difference between the two is that while a biography generally focuses on the entire life of an individual, a memoir focuses on specific life events or a specific time period within that persons life. Is that correct? That’s what I have been told at least so let me know if there is a better way to distinguish the two.
Either way, I don’t read them. I hardly read anything outside of fiction honestly. I think that if I were going to read one it would have to be about someone that I’m really interested in learning about, but I’m not quite sure who that would be.
What about you? If you have read them, were they for fun or assignment? Let me know!

I’ve read all three – but some of them are because I’m teacher. Two I really liked were ‘The Damage Done’ (it was something that was taught, and it was a memoir) but it was actually one of the best novels I’ve ever read. The second (also a memoir) was written by Sophie Hayes ‘Trafficked’, and it was really brutal and honest. It really highlighted abuse and the sex trafficking and slavery. I found that one on my own, and loved it. But, as a general rule, I mainly just read fiction. I’m not huge on non-fiction.
(Unless you count serial killer novels … but they aren’t autobiographies or biographies or memoirs, because they’re usually only a chapter long … then I do!)

I’ve read a handful. I really have enjoyed the ones that I have read, and I definitely am willing to read more because of that. The ones I’ve read were a mix of for class and for fun. I think if you find the right one to read, you’ll find that they can read exactly like a novel. (The only difference is that it’s true!). I really like graphic memoirs like Persepolis and Fun Home. As for prose, I loved The Diary of Anne Frank, and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers.

thanks for leaving the names of the ones that you liked (I love recommendations) I did read the Diary of Anne Frank when I was little and enjoyed it very much. I definitely think I’ll try to read them more often

The last autobiography I recall reading was Richard Branson. What an inspiring dude. I am more in to my fiction at the moment.

I haven’t read any yet, but I have a couple memoirs on my TBR. I took a nonfiction class a couple months ago, and I really liked some of the excerpts we read from various books.
