This or That?: #29

Hey all, Happy Monday

In case anyone needs a reminder or is new to the Bookmark Chronicles, here are the rules: Every Monday I will post a This or That Challenge where we will choose between two characters or scenarios. On Friday we will see which scenario/character wins. Feel free to either comment your choice below or make your own post and link it back here! 🙂

By no means do you have to feel obligated to do every single challenge, but I would love to hear all of your opinions! If you can only really talk about one scenario then go for it. Also, if you have any suggestions please let me know!

This week I want to know…..

Do you prefer to read short 

OR

Long novels

So from what I’ve researched, “short novels” are typically no more than 300 pages. So your answer will be based off of the amount of pages that you usually read.

Typically the books that I read are about 400-500 pages and I actually like the ones that are longer. In my head if the story is longer, there’s more detail and a better chance of falling in love with the characters. Not that shorter stories aren’t good too but I love the long ones. Plus, some stories are so good that you just want don’t want them to end to quickly ya know?

What about you? Do you have a preference, or have you noticed a pattern in your reading? Let me know 🙂

    Oo! I like this topic! ^.^ Personally, I enjoy reading shorter books because it allows me to read more books than if I were reading a longer book. I have a slow reading pace. So, it takes me a couple days (minimum) to even read short books and it can take weeks to read a longer book *cough* Game of Thrones *cough*, which pushes off other books even longer. I always feel so bad about the giant stack of books I have left to read. So, I prefer to read shorter books because it allows me to read more and explore more worlds than a single longer book would allow me to do.

    I guess I would say short. Usually I read books that are about 350 pages or less.

    I think if it’s gonna be amazing then definitely long- I like something I can really sink my teeth into. But if it’s mediocre or has *any* parts that could drag, I’d rather it was shorter- sometimes books that could’ve been ok ended up being terrible because the author just wrote too much. great post

    I would have to say the short books (300 pages or less). However, if it is an author that I absolutely love (Sarah Dessen, Ellen Hopkins, James Patterson…) then I’ll pick it up no matter what. But more of the books I tend to read are shorter. Love the topic for this week!

    I like this challenge! Somehow this got lost in my reader! OK, now I would say short because I often have to read books or even blog posts over to get what is being said. I also need glasses lol it has happered my reading process. When I was younger I read long novels. I liked the long ones back then because I wanted more time away from my reality. Also to spend more time with the characters.

    Good topic choice! I think I generally prefer shorter books because it’s easier to finish them before I get sidetracked. But then there are some books that go super-fast even though they’re actually pretty long (I especially found this with the later Harry Potter books and more recently with Carry On). But on the whole, I still think I’d pick short over long usually. 🙂

    Long novels! I think I’ve only ever read two novels (Of Mice and Men and Gimme a Kiss) that were less than 300 pages. Although, both are fantastic! Though I really do prefer longer novels. Allows more character development.
