Nicholas Sparks vs Jodi Picoult (Who’s work do you like better?)

When I was in high school Nicholas Sparks was my favorite author. This surprises a lot of people because most would describe me as logical and realistic….two words that are pretty much the opposite of his novels. But who doesn’t love a good love story? I do agree that most of Sparks’s novels are completely unrealistic but that’s the fun part. Any book that can suck you in and make you forget about the world around you is worth the read. But then again, the love stories are getting kind of old…

The first book that I read by Jodi Picoult was “My Sister’s Keeper”… *sidebar* Talk about a plot twist! Anna dying instead of Kate was so unexpected. I literally cried while trying to read the last chapter. And of course, the movie did NOT do it justice! *end sidebar*…and then I read “Plain Truth” and “Salem Falls”. Both were good enough that I recently bought “Change of Heart” and “Nineteen Minutes” at a book sale. I’m starting to think that I like Jodi Picoult’s work more. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve outgrown the love stories or if I like her writing style, but she is definitely on top…At least I think so.

Of course I still plan to read EVERY novel that either of them has ever written, but I’m also looking for other authors that have written a collection of good books or a series. Any suggestions? Leave a comment and let me know who you think is better: Sparks or Picoult?

19 Minutes was the first Jodi Picoult book I read and damn … What a story. I sobbed at the end of My Sisters Keeper too! I refuse to watch the movie because they changed the ending! But I’ve read all of her books except 5 of them I believe (she has over 20 published) and I haven’t read one yet that I didn’t love!! I hope you enjoy her works as much as I do!!
